NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control (NAEW&C) Programme Management Agency

Windmill has been continuously under contract to the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control (NAEW&C) Programme Management Agency (NAPMA) since 1988. Under our contract, Windmill supports most acquisition and functional disciplines and, in addition, holds a key role in identifying future system enhancements required to strengthen operational effectiveness and interoperability among the various global AEW&C fleets and the future NATO force structure.

Windmill's NATO team provides functional experts in IFF, sensor data fusion, computer hardware and software, logistics, and testing. Our people participate on IPT's supporting development, production, test and installation of an extensive suite of system upgrades in the NATO E-3A fleet.

Several of the areas in which Windmill provides subject area experts include:

  • IFF Mode S and Mode 5 interrogator and transponder
  • JTIDS and Communication System
  • DAMA Satellite Communications
  • Acquisition Documentation Development and Configuration Control
  • Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E)
  • Multi-National Program Management

At the present time we are supporting the on-going Mid-Term Modernization Program, the Large Aircraft Infra-Red Countermeasures program (LAIRCM), and the definition of a Phase II Modernization Program and topics currently under investigation include:

  • Fleet sustainability and civil aviation requirements
  • Navigation and flight safety initiatives
  • Future aircraft and mission systems' modernization requirements
  • NATO network enabled capability
  • NATO response force operations support
